2200 MHash/s ASIC for Ethereum mining and Grin coming in by the end of the year

At the beginning of the week in China was held an important event dedicated to cryptocurrency mining, organized by the mining pool Poolin, during which some companies (including Canaan), announced new devices for mining. Among them is Zhejiang Microcomputer Technology, manufacturer of Chinese ASICs and branch of Canaan, which showed the public three products: a 2200MH/s ASIC for Ethereum mining and two ASICs for Grin mining.

Among the three solutions presented, the one that is undoubtedly the most exciting is the ASIC miner for Ethereum. So far, in fact, only Bitmain and Innosilicon have announced similar products, but characterized by performance well below the solution proposed by Microcomputer.

Bitmain’s Antminer E3, in fact, is able to reach only 190 MH/s with a consumption of about 800 Watts, while the Innosilicon A450 (a product that has never really been seen on the market) offers a hashrate of 450 MH/s for just over 850 Watts.

Microcomputer V10: Ethereum Mining ASIC 2200 Mhash/s

The new product announced, the Microcomputer V10, as visible from the leaked photos can go up to a hashrate of 2200 MH/s in the mining of Ethereum, with an energy consumption of only 1500 Watts per hour, reaching an unprecedented energy efficiency.

Even the expected ASICs for Ethereum from Linzhi’s new startup, whose debut is scheduled for spring 2020, are not able to achieve such results, stopping at 1400 MH/s for one kWatt/hour of power consumption.

At the moment it is not known at what price this product will be made available, even if it was confirmed during the event that the device will be made available before the end of the year.

As for the company, certainly unknown to many, Microcomputer is a Chinese startup created by the founder and CEO of Canaan Creative and the investment company Bitrise Capital. For this reason, the two companies shared the same stand within the event, as well as making a joint announcement of new products.

Not only ASICs for ETHs, but also for Grin

During the conference, two products were also shown for the mining of Grin. These are two ASICs that should be made available already in October, so in less than a month.

The first ASIC, the Microcomputer G1 Mini, as you can see from the photos published on the Grin forum, offers a hashrate of 50 Gps in Grin mining, with a consumption of only 150 Watt/hour. The top of the range, instead, the G1 Plus, offers a hashrate of 500 Gps with an energy consumption of 1500 Watts per hour.

Both models are compatible with the Grin Cuckatoo31+ and 32+ PoW, the coin’s ASIC-friendly algorithms.

Unknown are the prices, which could be revealed shortly in view of shipments of the first batches. If the debut of these products were to be confirmed during the month of October, the solutions proposed by Microcomputer would prove to be the first ad-hoc devices for Grin mining on the market, since Obelisk decided to cancel the production of ASICs for Grin, while Innosilicon had to postpone the debut at the end of the year.
